How To: Blue & White Stripes Trend

Image
This spring/summer its no secret that blue and white stripes are THE trend to try. You walk into almost any store and you'll see this pattern, whether it be on tops, pants, shorts and even skirts. I personally think this trend is stemming from the classic menswear pattern on business casual button ups and that definitely makes sense with the menswear touch we've seen hit the runways and streets these last few seasons. I had a feeling if this specific trend would become big, I absolutely imagined it in the summer! This blue screams summer and goes great with white, but I decided to switch it up and show you a different way to style the classic pattern.        Above you'll see I went classic and featured the pattern in its "natural habitat," on a classic button up! To give it a feminine feel and to accentuate my waist I tied it up and paired it with some hi-rise black jeans. Again, to spice it up I went glam and added sliver accessories to ...

Effortless

Simplicity is key! When I'm going for a casual yet cute look, a great pair of jeans is always a must! I love the distress on these ones and not to mention they fit great! My advice to achieve a similar look would be find a great pair of distressed jeans and throw on a basic slouchy top and you've got it! I wore this to work, but you could also find me wearing this to maybe a lunch date or summer dinner. Pulled my hair in a high pony to achieve that effortless look yet pulled together at the same time. I love a good high pony!  Top:Vanity Fair Jeans:Charlotte Russe Heels:Steve Madden Necklace:Charlotte Russe

8 Ways to Stay Inspired as a Fashionista

Image
Read Magazines both old and new I love to just scan through magazines I have laying around. I kind of hoard them honestly, you can ask my boyfriend! But going through magazines is a great way to get inspired. Seeing the different advertisements, colors, celebrity looks etc. keeps your mind thinking outside of the box.  2.  Go Window Shopping Literally. Just go to the mall and walk around. These stores spend a lot of time putting together visually appealing displays and store fronts. Lot's of times, the mannequins will have on great outfits that you wouldn't normally see yourself wearing, but be inspired by them!  And be inspired by this super nice picture of a mall in Dubai that I found on google.  3.  Take a Trip to the Thrift Shop *Ques Macklemoore*Thrift shops are filled with all kinds of colors, fabrics and textures.     Talking about vintage! 4.  Download the Vogue Collections App. Look through all the Runway show...

"IF YOU LIKE IT, THEN WEAR IT."

Image
In today's world it's easy to feel hesitant about what you're going to leave the house in. With social media, pretty much anyone can make you the laughing stock of the entire internet if you choose to wear something out of the box. But I'm going to give you my opinion and why I stand by the quote "if you like it, wear it."  First and foremost, life is too short to be concerned about others small minded opinions. It took me a long t ime to come to this realization. Very long. To be quite honest, growing up I ALWAYS cared what others thought of me. I never wanted anyone to think I looked stupid or different. I didn't want to stand out of the crowd. I wanted to blend in. I would be hesitant to try new trends because I thought people would make fun of me and I would choose not to in fear of their judgement.   As I have gotten older, I've realized that those opinions don't matter as long as you are happy with yourself. If wearing somet...

JLO VIBES FOR EASTER

Image
For Easter this year I was planning on wearing a floral, pastel-colored dress (like expected for Easter), but due to a few technical difficulties I ended up wearing this gem I dug out of my closet! Not meaning to, I think I actually ended up channeling Jlo in this hot pink dress and I'm okay with it! I love Jlo's style, she always looks clean and polished and that is exactly what I was trying to go for with this look!     For lunch with my boyfriends family, I threw over a tan cardigan to be a bit more modest (and maybe appear a little less dressed up). Either way I loved how this look turned out. As far as shoes, I have been waiting for a reason to wear these bad boys and I thought why not for Easter (even though they're so bold)??  I failed to get a close up, but the detailing on the...
